I am by no means a pizza snob. My preferences include a wide range of styles, from basic cafeteria squares to a classic New York slice. Whether I’m eating fresh, frozen, or last night's leftovers, you’d be hard-pressed to hear me say anything negative about pizza.

While browsing the pizza selection at ALDI, I stumbled upon a grouping of Mama Cozzi's “take-and-bake” options. As a big fan of pineapples on pizza, my attention was immediately drawn to Mama Cozzi’s Hot Honey Hawaiian Flatbread Pizza. It's nearly 16 inches long and five inches wide and retails for a cool $6.99.

Why I Love ALDI's Mama Cozzi's Hot Honey Hawaiian Flatbread Pizza

First of all, the display on this sucker is immaculate. The 16.8-ounce flatbread is about a quarter inch thick and features a healthy assortment of toppings. There’s a base layer of hot honey pizza sauce, followed by shredded mozzarella cheese, chunks of pineapple, large slices of jalapeño peppers, and hearty pieces of julienned ham.

I love the take-and-bake aspect of this pizza. It's not frozen and is meant to be stored in the refrigerator, so bake time is cut nearly in half. After preheating my oven to 425°F, I placed the thawed flatbread directly on the middle rack and baked it for about 16 minutes. Once the cheese was melted and the bread reached a nice golden brown color, I removed it from the oven to let it cool off.

Tips for Enjoying Mama Cozzi's Hot Honey Hawaiian Flatbread Pizza

It’s important to watch the pizza during the last five minutes of cooking. The instructions boast a 16- to 18-minute cooking time, but every oven differs. I removed the pizza right at the 16-minute mark to make sure I didn’t overheat the crust to a crisp. I wanted to enjoy the flatbread's chewy texture and the beautifully melted cheese.

I’d say I got exactly what I expected from this tropical Mama Cozzi’s offering. It’s better than many frozen pizzas and packs a fair amount of heat thanks to the hot honey and jalapeño peppers. On its own, it can be a dinner for one, but I was able to make it a dinner for two with a pair of side summer salads and fresh garlic rolls.

Leftovers are where this pizza earned its keep. After popping a couple of slices in the air fryer, I topped them with a drizzle of Burman’s Spicy Garlic Hot Sauce and some freshly grated Parmesan cheese and promptly finished off the rest. While it’s not a hot and ready slice from my favorite pizza joint, Mama Cozzi’s Hot Honey Hawaiian Flatbread is a killer option with an unbeatable price that I will take advantage of again.
